EPFO Launches Free Doorstep Service for Pensioners: Submit Digital Life Certificate From Home

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has rolled out a free doorstep service for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), ensuring they can submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) without stepping out of their homes. The initiative aims to make the annual verification process smoother, faster, and more accessible—especially for elderly pensioners who struggle with travel or digital procedures.

What This New Service Offers

Under the new program, EPFO has partnered with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). Trained postal staff will now visit pensioners’ homes to verify their identities using Aadhaar-based fingerprint or face authentication and instantly generate the Digital Life Certificate.

This means pensioners no longer need to visit banks, EPFO offices, or Common Service Centres to complete their yearly DLC submission.

Why EPFO Launched the Doorstep Facility

A large number of EPS pensioners are senior citizens who face physical or technological limitations. Many do not own smartphones, some live in remote locations with limited access to services, and others cannot travel due to health conditions. These challenges often lead to delays in DLC submission, which can eventually disrupt pension payments.

To prevent such issues and ensure seamless pension disbursal, EPFO introduced the doorstep delivery model—making the process accessible to every pensioner across the country.

What Exactly Is a Digital Life Certificate?

A Digital Life Certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, is an online verification proving that the pensioner is alive. The authentication uses Aadhaar-linked biometrics such as fingerprints or face recognition. Once generated, the DLC remains valid for 12 months.

Is the Doorstep Service Free?

Yes. As per the official information, postmen will visit pensioners whose DLC is due and complete the registration at no cost.
The entire expense of offering this facility is covered by EPFO’s Central Pension Processing and Record Centre.

How Pensioners Can Book a Doorstep Visit

To avail of the service, pensioners—or their family members—simply need to call IPPB’s customer care helpline and place a request for a home visit.

After the request is registered:

  1. A postman or IPPB representative is assigned to the pensioner’s address.
  2. At the scheduled time, the representative visits the home.
  3. Aadhaar-based biometric or face verification is done on the spot.
  4. The Digital Life Certificate is generated and updated instantly.

The entire process is secure, hassle-free, and designed to ensure that no pensioner faces delays in receiving their monthly pension.
