Google’s highly anticipated Made by Google event is officially scheduled for August 12, 2026, where the tech giant will pull back the curtain on the Google Pixel 11 Pro. Smartphone enthusiasts won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the hardware, as wide retail availability is slated for August 20, 2026.
Design Shift: The “Pixel Glow” Replaces the Thermometer
The most striking visual change coming to the Pixel 11 Pro is the retirement of the older thermometer sensor. In its place, Google is introducing a sleek RGB notification light strip dubbed the “Pixel Glow,” built directly into the redesigned, all-black glass camera housing. This strip will support up to eight customizable colors, flashing distinct hues for incoming notifications or context clues from Gemini AI when the phone is resting face-down.
Under the Hood: Next-Gen 2nm Tensor G6
Internal processing is getting a massive efficiency boost. The Pixel 11 Pro will debut the Tensor G6 chipset, manufactured on TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm process. Leaked details point to a unique 7-core CPU structure paired with a MediaTek M90 modem. This specific combination is expected to resolve the thermal management and overheating issues of past generations while vastly improving overall battery longevity.
Display, Storage, and Hardware Finishes
The phone maintains its user-friendly, compact footprint with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display featuring a fluid 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate. However, outdoor visibility gets a major upgrade with a peak brightness range scaling between 2,450 and 3,600 nits.
Google is also modernizing its storage configurations by entirely eliminating the outdated 128GB tier. The entry-level Pixel 11 Pro will now start with a generous 256GB of baseline storage, with premium configurations scaling all the way up to 1TB.
Consumers can choose from four fresh color options:
- Midnight Haze: A deep, charcoal black taking over for the classic Obsidian tone.
- Light Fog: A clean, minimal off-white with grey undertones.
- Dune: A warm, trendy blend of beige and pink.
- Pine: A rich, deep forest green finish.
Pricing and Value Strategy
Despite doubling the base storage capacity to 256GB, Google is holding the line on pricing. The Pixel 11 Pro is projected to launch at an introductory price of $999 / €1,199. This keeps the entry price identical to the cost of last year’s 256GB Pixel 10 Pro variant, offering buyers significantly more storage value out of the gate.
