UIDAI to Allow Aadhaar Mobile Number Update From Home: New Feature Coming Soon
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a major upgrade that will make life easier for Aadhaar holders. Soon, users will be able to update their mobile numbers right from home—no need to visit an enrolment centre anymore.

UIDAI shared the update through a post on X, explaining that the new feature will let users complete mobile number updates using OTP verification along with face authentication. This means people won’t have to stand in long queues or book slots at Aadhaar Seva Kendras just for a mobile number change.
The service will be accessible through the mAadhaar app, available on both Android and iOS. UIDAI has already shared links directing users to download the official app.

Mobile number changes are one of the most commonly requested Aadhaar updates, and until now, users had to visit a centre for in-person verification. This new digital method is expected to ease crowding at centres and make the process faster for the millions who rely on Aadhaar for banking, telecom, and government services.
As of now, only address updates can be made online. Meanwhile, UIDAI is also developing a secure mobile app that will allow users to make several important changes directly from their phones. The upcoming app will use face-recognition-based verification—supported by most modern smartphones—making it possible for users to complete more Aadhaar updates from home.
